SERA Policy Platform Development

SERA is developing a policy platform that defines what we stand for as Labour’s Environment Campaign. Members are at the heart of SERA and will play the critical role in developing the policy platform. The policy platform will identify the core policy priorities that will drive our influencing, campaigning and communications at all levels. It will guide what we ask from this Labour Government now and also form the basis for our input into Labour’s future manifesto.

The development of the policy platform starts with you: SERA members. We would like to hear from members on where the Labour Government needs to focus climate and nature action. We would also like to hear views on the Government’s greatest environmental achievements so far to help shape election campaigning next year. The first stage of members input ia a short survey .Following the survey, there will be an opportunity for SERA members to take part in an online forum in the new year to discuss priorities identified by the survey in more detail. SERA MPs will also be invited to shape our policy priorities.

Alongside member engagement, we will ask our key stakeholders to provide their views on what they see as priorities for action in the forthcoming years for the Labour Government.

The resulting policy platform will reflect the key priorities of SERA members and provide the focus for our organisation to have a real impact. The stakes have never been higher for the environment. At once, we have a Labour Government demonstrating environmental leadership challenged by an imminent threat of Reform promising to derail all progress, leaving the future of planet, people and the natural world in peril. SERA has an important role to play in supporting and steering the Government to continue its good work for the environment and in communicating this progress publicly to help combat Reform lies. Participating in the development of the policy platform will help us do just that.
