Thanks to everyone who joined our meeting on Rosebank last week. I was on leave so unable to join, but I heard it was an energising meeting with great discussion and contributions. A particular thanks to SERA Exec member Mike Reader MP for joining the meeting and for all his work on this issue. Thanks too to Suzi Shingler from Uplift, who leads the Stop Rosebank campaign, for sharing her insight on the road ahead, as well as to SERA Rosebank experts – Cllr Jo Blackman and Young SERA Chair Christian Fuller.
With a decision on Rosebank likely to be made in December, there is still plenty of time to advocate for its rejection and this email sets out ways that you can help to stop Rosebank.
Ask your CLP to support our motion
SERA has developed a CLP motion with Mainstream to help stop Rosebank.
The motion asks that CLPs:
● Write to their local Labour MP or the Secretary of State, requesting that they urge the Government to reject licenses for the Rosebank oil and gas field.
● Write to Miatta Fahnbulleh, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, urging her to reject licenses for the Rosebank oil and gas field.

Other actions to Stop Rosebank
- Rosebank Day of Action on Friday 13th November: Uplift are planning a Stop Rosebank day of action where they will encourage people to organise visits to their MPs constituency offices and/or pledge to take action online that day and flood Andy Burnham’s socials. I will share more details when I receive them but in the meantime, here are some ideas from Uplift on immediate actions you can take to stop Rosebank.
- Healthcare group open letter: There’s a new letter circulating from health groups calling on the UK government to (a) commission and publish an independent health impact assessment of the Jackdaw gas field and (b) reject the Rosebank oil field on public-health grounds. You can read and sign the letter or share with groups that might be able to sign here.
