A People’s Railway for Scotland

SERA Scotland are joining with The Co-operative Party and ASLEF to launch a new policy document titled ‘ScotRail – A People’s Railway for Scotland’.

This document has been authored by Professor Paul Salveson, and builds on the work we started with the Co-operative Party and ASLEF with the ‘Rail Cymru‘ report in 2012. The proposals here serve to show how our railways can be run on different principles and motivation. We feel that this short document will help take the debate beyond a ‘private good/public bad’ debate to look at how a railway suitable for the 21st Century, incorporating high quality of service, public accountability, employee involvement and value for money can be achieved for the people of Scotland.

We will be launching the pamphlet at an event between 9.30am – 10.30am on Thursday 5th December with James Kelly MSP in the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel – Holyrood Suite 1. 81 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh, EH8 8AU. We have limited space for this event so please RSVP to Ben West on [email protected] or 020 7367 4153.
